About John

John K. Reed, a life-long resident of Florida, moved to Northwest Florida after graduating from law school. He attended the University of Central Florida, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate. Prior to entering private practice, John served as an Assistant State Attorney in Walton and Okaloosa County, prosecuting juvenile, misdemeanor and felony cases. As a former prosecutor, he tried numerous judge and jury trials to verdict in both county court and circuit court. This experience as a prosecutor has provided John with the ability to see the strengths and weaknesses of a case, and to zealously advocate for clients in and out of the courtroom. John’s understanding of the law and the criminal justice system has provided him with the opportunity to successfully defend clients who have been charged with misdemeanors and felonies such as driving under the influence (DUI), theft, violent crimes, drug charges, and more.

In addition to criminal defense, John also practices family law and has successfully represented clients in the areas of uncontested and contested divorces, modifications, parenting plans, and military matters.

All too often, criminal matters and family matters become intertwined, and it can be essential for an attorney to understand those connections, and the law, to zealously advocate for their clients.

John’s courtroom and criminal experience give him the ability provide comprehensive representation to his family law clients.

John also served as an adjunct professor at the University of West Florida, where he taught several courses on Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Judicial Process, and was able to bring his courtroom experience into the classroom to provide an engaging atmosphere for his students.
